Mounjaro: NHS vs Private Prices.

NHS prescription or private pharmacy? How Mounjaro access, eligibility and cost differ between the two routes in the UK.

There are two legitimate ways to get Mounjaro in the UK, and they suit different situations.

The NHS route

Following NICE guidance (TA1026), tirzepatide is being rolled out through NHS weight-management services and primary care, prioritised by clinical need. If you're eligible, you pay the standard NHS prescription charge — but eligibility is strict and waiting lists are real. Start with your GP.

The private route

Private online pharmacies prescribe following their own assessment, typically for people with a BMI of 30+, or 27+ with a weight-related condition. You pay the full cost of the medicine — which is exactly why comparing prices matters. Monj.co.uk tracks live private prices across GPhC-registered pharmacies.

Whichever route

The medicine is the same, the prescribing standards are the same, and the register check is the same. Verify any pharmacy at pharmacyregulation.org before you pay.
